2009: A Look Back.

2010 is officially in, folks! Start a new chapter in my life; my new sheets needs to be filled up with stories of happiness, sorrow, new adventures, new people, and other stuff I have to deal with. 2009 has been an eventful year for me, it seems like a lot of things happened, all went by in a blur! It has been a good year.

Join me as I look back and recall things that happened in 2009 - good and bad.

Blogging.

I met a lot of really fantastic bloggers this year. A lot of them I met through Friday Town Shootout where you get to show off your place. To the Friday Town Shootout Gang, I'm grateful to have met you guys, you know who you are. Here's to another year ahead of us!

Not to forget, the truckload of Filipinos I met this year. Let's all continue to blog and represent our beloved Motherland.

Last but not the least, this is the year I started to blog on Blogger! I remember back in February, I was struggling with my blog cos I'm trying to figure out how to get comments. But that's another story, all is well now!

Me.

This beer is best served cold. On the rocks, beybe! Not a fan of too much Beer, though. I vomit easily, dunno why. I go hard!

The first time I really got myself into Alcohol was during my birthday last May. After my birthday, what followed is a weekly drinking session in different bars around the capital. I danced my ass off, met a lot of new people through drinking, burned a lot of money, and angered my parents. But hey, I am completely aware of all the things I do even when drunk. Nowadays, I'm trying to change by not drinking and partying too much lol!

I'm addicted to trying new things so I end up not going at home at least once a week lol! I go with friends to nearby provinces to eat and drink the whole night long.

Broke up with a boyfriend then found a new one after a month.

I shifted from Computer Science to Psychology. Now I'm loving every minute of Psychology, except when I have to take Statistics and Probability and Chemistry lol! I still meet with my old buddies from Computer Science and continued to meet loads of new people in Psychology.

Participated in Psychology Night.

Not a really good shot but this is where I tried loads of things. Bring it on!

Went to loads of new and exciting places. Tried a lot of things. Ate a lot of food.

Watched a lot of movies especially classic Films (12 Angry Men, A Streetcar Named Desire, Breakfast At Tiffany's, Sunset Blvd., Casablanca, The Godfather, AND LOADS MORE!) downloaded a massive amount of songs and read a lot of books. = More information, I learned to appreciate Life and the World more.

Family.

A dear Grandfather died. A respectful man, the first Filipino Professor in the University of Pennsylvania. May he rest in peace.

Damn, I think I wrote a lot! It's like the Summary of my life this 2009. It's great to make something like this, though. I'm sure I left out a few minor details but the major ones are all here!

Hmm, I'm craving for Hot Chocolate, Swiss Miss in particular!

Philippine-American War.

Yay! Thanks to everyone who commented on my previous post about Fort Santiago, one of my country's most historical tourist spots. I'll probably put up more photos taken from my country in my upcoming posts, just keep them comments coming! :) For now, since we touched a fragment of my country's history in my previous post, I'm gonna talk about the brutalities and other things so if you're easily offended by morbid photos, you're exempted from this blog hahaha. This blog is not intended to show hatred but merely to expand knowledge about the atrocities that once existed but are still happening today, maybe worse, in many parts of the globe.

Let us first start off with the Philippine-American war which happened in late 1800s and early 1900s. Back then, the Americans wanted Philippines to be one of its territories but during that time while the Filipinos are still recovering from the tyranny of the Spaniards (there was a Treaty of Paris between Spain and America wherein America would have Philippines and Spain would leave), the Filipinos thought that they will gain their freedom but the Americans came, promising a better Philippines. Most of the Filipinos want their freedom, not another conqueror who promises grand things. So the Filipinos revolted, thus the Philippine-American war.

General Jacob H. Smith: Kill Every One Over Ten published in the New York journal cartoon. The bottom of the caption exclaimed "Criminals Because They Were Born Ten Years Before We Took the Philippines." Some American Generals in the Philippines passed negative news to the American Press. Negative, I mean made-up stories of Filipinos punishing Americans. The first Philippine President asked 4 reporters: two English, one Canadian, and a Japanese to investigate regarding the said Filipino atrocities. The reporters after a while claimed that American prisoners were treated more like guests instead of criminals.

If I'm not mistaken, this happened near my town or in my town.Bombing of Manila by the Americans.A Filipino begging food (note how thin she is and the woman beside her holding an infant) to an American soldier.The Garrote. Has a record of killing over thirty men. A machine for the destruction of a human's neck.

In the end, as always, loser by default, the Philippines lost the war to another race (not because of morals but because of the lack of equipments). After the Americans declared their power over the Philippines, the grand things they promised (for the progress of the Philippines) were done indeed; maybe that's why a lot of Filipinos love Americans and have burning hatred for the Japanese. The Americans brought their culture and lifestyle to the Philippines and the Filipinos quickly adopted it and before long, they were spoiled. The Japanese on the other hand did nothing but trampled over Filipino pride which will be discussed on my next blog so stay tuned.

In other news..

• My classes will end on March 11 so after that, I'm no longer a Computer Science student but a BS Psychology student. Now wish me luck! Anyone notice the huge gap between computers and psychology? lol.
• I'm crossing days on the calendar! Regular classes will end this Friday but will continue until March 11 for other tests. I actually can't wait for this term. I'm excited for new adventures once I switch schools! New friends and new environment! I'm gonna be sad because I'm leaving all of my great friends in my current school.
• I finished Cecelia Ahern's Thanks for the Memories yesterday. I love her books because I get involved in her make believe world wherein fairy tales and happy endings take place! I need books like these from time to time. I started Song Yet Sung by James McBride and bought Aravind Adiga's White Tiger which I have read before.
• Slumdog Millionaire fans! You can now buy Jai Ho (English version AR Rahman ft. The Pussycat Dolls) on iTunes! It's a golden track.
  
• Recently watched Frost/Nixon (brilliantly executed, loved Frank Langella's performance!) and Bolt (I need animations from time to time! The film was brilliant, by the way! It kinda lacked something in various parts. But worth watching, one of the best animated films. Madagascar Escape 2 Africa is still my favorite, though!)
