Vices and Books.

Just got back from my cousin's place! Spent the night just drinking and hanging out with friends and in the morning, with boyfriend. Yay! Everyone in my neighborhood is celebrating Easter. Our store is gaining so much money selling alcohol, cigarettes, soft drinks, and other beverages. Anything that's bad for the health, we got that, except for drugs, of course. Haha! So place an order for alcohol and cigarettes if you're ever around Sta.Ana, Manila!

Earlier today, while no one was buying goods from our store, I got busy transferring my books from one bookshelf to another. As I was sorting them out, I realized I've read a number of books on American Civil War, Fame and Fortune, Contemporary Stuff, and a whole lot more - I imagine the collection filling up two rooms 10 years from now. I want to have a big Library of Fiction and History books!

Here are some of my books, while I put them in another bookshelf.

I'm glad I have read The Godfather, it's just one of the most influential books of all time! Looking for Godfather II but I can't find stock of it on bookstores..

Yay, see that thick book on the leftmost side? That's my favorite book of all time, Gone With The Wind. I cried a couple of times while reading this, it's THAT great. I don't mind reading it again and again and I recommend it to everyone who loves reading!

The Winner Stands Alone by Paulo Coelho is the most recent book I've finished. It's about fame and fortune, the reason why I bought it.

Gotta get some rest! I'm wishing for days to go really fast cos I can't wait for my Tagaytay Trip on Sunday! Any quick stories, comments and suggestions about your trip in Tagaytay? Do comment! Thanks!

Much Love,

that is an interesting mix: fiction and history. good luck with the filling of the room. i'm sure that will come in less than ten years, the book lover that you are.

Barry said...

I loved peeking at all your books. Seeing how many of them I've read (about half).

HalfCrazy said...

@Prinsesamusang - Come to think of it, interesting mix nga! Thanks, I'll try to fill up a room after I graduate. I should be having enough money by that time to buy 2 books a week! I'm already excited, haha!

@Barry - That's just some, a lot of people borrowed books and they never returned it! Now I forgot who borrowed what! You have great taste in books, Sir! Haha!

when i was your age, my goal was to fill my shelf with 800 books... tapos i turned 24... and somehow got tired of buying and reading books...

i did reach that number... kaya lang for comic books... hehehe

I like the eclectic mix of books you read. Ranging from "Atonement" to "Rant" by Chuck Palahniuk. That's quite a range. I love it when people have a wide range of interests in reading material.

Jeni said...

I enjoyed seeing some of your book collection and learning that you like history and fiction. So do I. I love historical fiction, especially if it pertains to any war period. No, I'm not a war monger, just enjoy learning more about how things came about I guess. But I especially appreciated your naming your favorite book as that's mine too -love GWTW! I've read it several times, watched to movie too on numerous occasions and way back, I even had a record (LP) with the movie's sound track as well. A bit obsessive on that topic maybe?

Dorothy said...

I have the original printing of the Godfather, and I love it.

Great update as to your life..thanks for visiting us.

HalfCrazy said...

@Gillboard - Meron ka talagang exact hit number? Haha! At least na reach mo. I total mo lahat ng prices ng collection mo, siguro libo libong pera na yun! Yun rin isa sa mga goals ko, yung net worth!

@Jay - Thanks! I'm starting to really like Chuck Palahniuk. First, I was exposed to Fight Club then Rant. Planning to read his books from now on! I gotta admit that I was sort of bored with Atonement. Nevertheless, it has a really good story.

@Jeni - YAY for GWTW! It's gonna live on forever! I'm on the same page as you, I'm not a war monger, I just really like historical fiction. It's wayyy too interesting to miss. Kudos to you, you're a fangirl! I was disappointed that GWTW Hardcover version is not available. Wow LP! One cannot even see the soundtrack anymore!

@Dorothy - Wow, the original printing! I guess mine is like, the 15th print or something! Thanks for visiting in my little corner too!

Those books speak a lot about you, and I would say that you are intelligent and smart! I have only read a few books and I admire people like you who have read a lot!

Rose Belle said...

I see you have DaVinci. Love that book. My friend whose grandma used to own a store in the Philippines says that around holidays, they always have good business and best sellers are items like you mentioned, cigarettes, alcohols, and etc.

Michael Rivers said...

Books are very good!! I have a huge collection too. :-)

witsandnuts said...

I can read your interests now. ;) I also have the very thick Gone With the Wind book. Got it from Manila many years ago and until now I haven't read it. :( I also have the DVD, I'll try to watch it.

Jama said...

You certainly got a big collection of books, you can start your own library! Have fun in Tagaytay and take lots of pictures.

HalfCrazy said...

@Dennis - I'm just always hungry for information! A lot of people don't believe that I actually read books. Puro bisyo lang daw ang alam ko at good times! Magugulat nalang sila alam ko yung ganyan ganito. Sasabihin ko lang, "Secret!"

@Rose Belle - Love that book too, one of the most controversial books ever written. That book actually made me think about Christianity. Everyone here in the Philippines loves to party, even if they don't have money. When Filipinos are happy/sad, they drink.

@Michael - Interested to see your collection! :) I expect books on Entertainment!

@Witsandnuts - You should read it! Nakakatamad talaga sa unang tingin! Buti nalang noon wala kasi akong magawa kaya binasa ko nalang. I'm glad I did! Mahaba yung movie at corny compared sa standard ngayon pero ayos talaga yung acting!

@Jama - I will take lots of pictures!

Hi HalfCrazy, you have a store? Thats nice. Can I have a packet of Lucky Strike cigarettes please, and a bottle of Jack Daniels, ha ha.
Really nice of you to come by, I missed you.

Wow, those are nice books. Only recently saw on TV Da Vinci code, good movie.
You have a nice day and keep a song in your heart, Ingat, Lee.

Insomniac! said...

Gone With the Wind is my favourite book of all time as well! :D &you actually have a copy (I only borrowed from the library. >_<)

And you have Jarhead, and Atonement. Interesting. (:

HalfCrazy said...

@Mei Teng - That explains the reason why you have a good foundation in English! :) I remember finishing the Bible too!

@Uncle Lee - We don't have Lucky Strike and Jack Daniels! No one would buy it here, that's too classy! Our patrons like the cheap ones LOL! You are a man of elegance, Uncle Lee. Ingat too!

@Insomniac! - Haha, how many days did it take you to finish it! It's annoying to be pressured by the library! That's why I started buying books instead. Didn't like Jarhead, just some stuff in it! :)

Wow, I suddenly feel very childish. My collection of books consists of Artemis Fowl, Harry Potter, Superman, Batman, hahaha.
And I am currently rereading now "Alice in Wonderland" and "Through the Looking Glass".

HalfCrazy said...

@Olyabut - Haha, there's nothing wrong reading those books! They're still books to devour, they're classics. I've read only 5 Harry Potter books but they're damn great!

@Raft3r - What does that mean? The books I have are for losers? Is that what you're trying to imply! LOL! Haha!

@Manglish - We're on the same league! So many books, so little time! I just wanna get everything, I love fiction so much!

Today, I went to the beach with my kids. I found a sea
shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said "You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear." She put the shell to her ear and screamed.
There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear.
She never wants to go back! LoL I know this
