Part 2: Holy Week @ Bonifacio High Street
It's the night of the Black Saturday here in the Philippines. Traditions are not observed anymore. Throughout the holy week, my neighbors still went on with their lives - buying liquors and cigarettes from us. Yes, we run a small business. We got no choice but to sell to these people, times are tough nowadays. Again, while I'm not religious, it's kind of sad.
I covered half of the stations in my previous post, check it out if you have time!

Station 8, The Two Simons. In this station, there's a table with a lamp, pieces of paper, jars, and pencils. One can write their prayers on a piece of paper and drop them on the jar. One can read the papers in the jar and pray for those people. I didn't write anything. While I think I have many problems, a lot of people have it worst. I picked some papers, went through them and prayed for the others who deserve it. One message I can't forget was, "I wish for my husband's success in his career. I wish for the good health and blessings of my family. Hopefully, one of these days, we can finally have that wedding - not just in my dreams. I will not stop hoping."

Station 10, The Mother: Jesus Entrusts Mary to John There were pictures clipped showing mothers with their children.

Part 1: Holy Week @ Bonifacio High Street.
I got the week off. Most of us do. I should have been at a bar today but I declined the offer. I am not religious but I think it's not appropriate to drink during the holy week.
I went to Bonifacio High Street the other night with a friend. For some who don't know, the place is a hot spot for celebrities that live nearby, owning the million dollar condos only them could afford. The place is also dotted with shops and restaurants that are high end. However, in additional, as it is Holy Week, there are 14 stations of the cross that people could visit and reflect on. CLICK ON PHOTOS TO ENLARGE!

Fragmented reflection. I am the one on the right.

Fragmented reflection. I am the one on the right.
Station 1 is about Jesus at the Garden of Gethsemane, where Jesus and his disciples prayed before the crucifixion. In this station, we each took a red bead as a souvenir. The fragmented reflection has a deep meaning, which I can't clearly write in here.

Station 2 is about the betrayal of Judas. Judas sold Jesus for a few pieces of silver, roughly about two or three months of what a common laborer would earn that time. Judas was taken in with the offer of money and his selfishness, which this station depicts - the person inside the glass tube container with piles of money in his feet.

Judas was taken in with the offer of money and his selfishness, which this station depicts - the person inside the glass tube container with piles of money in his feet.

Station 3 is the trial of Jesus before the Sanhedrin. This is the one where the crowd was made to choose between Jesus and Jesus Barabbas. The crowd chose Jesus to be crucified - the man who performed miracles, over the guy who was a known crook. In this station, there were three telephones. When I listened, it was a conversation between a man and a woman, and how they passed judgment on an overweight woman without knowing the real story.

Station 5 is the infamous whip. The whip is suspended in mid-air, with red paint, supposedly blood, splattered about.

Station 6: Jesus is crowned with thorns. As the whipping is not enough, a crown of thorns was placed upon his head. In this station, I picked up a black cloth, which will be put into use in one of the stations ahead.
As I've mentioned, I am not a religious person. Yes, I have read the bible in two languages, from cover to cover. I like some of the teachings, I probably believe in Jesus. I don't go to church on Sundays, I don't even pray anymore - unless it's for others. I like money and I am selfish. I judge other people on how they look without knowing their story.
Visiting those stations made me more aware about myself. That's all.
Stay tuned for Part 2.

Something extremely useful and the doppler effect.
Recently, I've been searching for places to go to and things to do when I finally get to be at Baguio by the end of this month. It's looking good so far for my itinerary and budget. Google Blog Search has been extremely helpful. Blogs are more helpful because the prices are out in the open and pictures are shared by the writers. You can even refine the search by choosing publishing dates, if you are looking for more accurate information.

A panoramic shot of the pool
Blurred shot of Antipolo Skyline. I can't get a good shot. Haha
I got back from the Antipolo trip last Sunday night. I had an awesome time with my best-est friends, as well as their best friends. One breathtaking thing about Antipolo besides the cold climate that will surely take your breath away, is the breathtaking overlooking view of the city skylines from certain standpoints in Antipolo.

Want to go that Restaurant but not quite sure of the budget? Want to explore a new dining place? Want to share your favorite restaurants or drop bombs on restaurants that suck? Live in Metro Manila? Well you better head on over to MunchPunch if you said yes to all of the above!
I review restaurants in there, I go by the name of ASoprano.

Smart is indeed sexy.
I finished watching Community Season 1 a few days ago. While the series is not a barrel of laughs, it has good writing. So overall, it's worth it, so go download and watch! They've been renewed for a third season.
I recently started on The Big Bang Theory. I do understand the scientific jargon going on but like Penny, maybe someday I can get the hang of listening to the other guys talk about subatomic particles, molecular positronium, the doppler effect, and well, a lot of other big words. It's an okay show for me, I chuckle here and there.

Something that smells like burnt cash and where royal flush is the ultimate killer.
"Your productivity is the reason of my interest. I like the person that you are, but I am in love with the person that you have potential to be." - Wale, in Ambitious Girl.

A necklace that has far too many laces and a bonnet. I love the brown/copper/bronze shade! Bring on the earth colors.
A few days ago, I went shopping. I really don't go into shopping sprees, usually just a top and an additional item here and there, usually once a week. We don't have issued uniforms in school so being the big spender that I am, I constantly need new tops and accessories to go with them.
----------------I started watching this show because I am about to finish the brilliantly smart and witty show that only lasted for three seasons, Arrested Development. Still can't conclude anything from Community but I think I'm gonna go far with it, I love the pop culture referencing they do. They did a lot of Breakfast Clubbing in the Pilot episode.
----------------
I have four possible trips this April. One is this upcoming weekend, in Antipolo where we will go bar hopping while looking at the beautiful major city skylines; Two is the trip to Pangasinan where we will camp and have fun in the beach. I am hoping for some sports to play - just not Volleyball because I just wasn't made for that; Three, Ilocos, where I will visit this Music Producer who I have a crush on; and Four, a trip to the summer capital of the country, Baguio, where I will explore, get cold, meet friends, and enjoy the nightlife.
These trips are sponsored by my Dad - only he doesn't know of it.
----------------
I very sincerely think that if you have multiple blogs and you don't use some of them unless they have some kind of sentimental value (For example: a blog covering your trip to Africa and doing social work), delete them. I get confused on which to visit so I click all of them and see which one is the most active.

Something about flying away and on being a quitter.
For as long as I can remember, I've been a quitter. I'm not proud of it. The reason for being at first, being obsessed with the idea of a particular thing, could be due to a lot of things. The hype surrounding it, the glory after attaining that goal, and my dreams, hopes, and attitude of wanting to be versatile and skillful in a lot of areas. I am interested in a wide array of things so I tend to get confused and overexcited over what I really want to do with my life.
The idea of wanting to get into med school. I took the test that serves as a requirement for all medical schools in the Philippines. I got a really low score. I feel like I can't take the hardship that I have to go through med school.
Being an officer of the Student Council. I was head of the Sports committee then promoted to Secretary. I quit because I wanted to focus more on my studies and my internship that time.
Enrolling in a private institution for Spanish classes. I attended a few classes but then decided it was too hard for me, I need to be immersed in a place where I could really practice the language.
Shifting from BS Computer Science to BS Psychology. Calculus and analytical subjects shot me down.
For most of the time, I am great at the start of these ideas but then after a while, I quit before I hit the finish line. I could have had a shot at being a Doctor, I could have organized and helped BS Psychology be recognized and appreciated in my university, I could have been speaking and understanding Spanish now, or I could have been a Computer Programmer instead of a Psychotherapist or a Human Resources person.
I have a lot of regrets but there's no use sulking over them. I do not promise any more quitting in the future but I would like to redeem myself and make use of what I have now, take things one day at a time, do time management. I wrote and posted this on my blog to serve as a memory and a guide for a lot of things that I gave up.
What have you been quitting lately?

Something you either love or hate and an out of town experience.
Drake's So Far Gone mixtape - if you're into Hiphop/Rap, listen to it. You shouldn't pass up a mixtape this great.
When I get tired of the rappers rapping about money, the cars, the fame, and "the hoes", I hit stop and listen to The Script instead. Sometimes I need a pause or a stop button from all the swagging, bragging, and partying, and get in touch with my softer side.
My favorite genre is hip-hop and rap and I am aware of the negativity surrounding it. A lot of rappers do make sense. Some of their songs don't, some of their songs do. It's a love it or hate it relationship. Either way, they will dominate the charts.

A few days ago, I went with some schoolmates on this paradise not yet reached by industrialization and capitalism - Papaya, Nueva Ecija. It is a very long ride from the province's capital and does not attract a lot of tourists. People in there possibly only got the information by word of mouth or letting the pictures speak for its beauty. Which comes after this paragraph, without further ado. CLICK ON IMAGES TO ENLARGE! :)
There are many other photos but I picked out the best ones from a handful of pictures I took. We spent about an hour trekking out the rock formations and finally into some really dark cave with bats and blasts of cold air. Finally out in the sun, we went to the pictures shown above. It was very tiring but rewarding, especially when you actually get to be there.
Come on, Department of Tourism, promote the damn place!
How to get there:
Ride a bus to Gapan in one of the Bus Liners in Cubao. We picked Baliwag Transit (P160, if you're a student, bring your ID.) From Gapan, ride a jeep which will cost one person P23. Tell the driver to bring you to Papaya, where the cave and the water is at. I really don't know the exact name of the place, but show em some pictures and I'm sure they will know from there.

Something you think, feel, and do when bored and you actually want to do something meaningful with your life.
It's my term break so I got nothing better to do but sit in front of the computer and check Facebook multiple times during the day and through the night. I have no life. I hate being on vacation cos my allowance gets cut too. I prefer stressing over some exam the next day after just getting home from a night of getting wasted at some bar.
Thankfully, all the negativity, bitterness, and laziness will be over once school starts in two weeks.
And oh yeah, this might be my last summer vacation, I will be graduating in six months, hopefully sometime around November. Time to get some money and wash those dollar bills like laundry!
***
I don't just mean spending on parties, clothes, and escapades, I also mean doing things for a cause, to explain what I said in the previous paragraph before those asterisks. I mean, what kind of person do you think I am?!
I am planning to participate in fun runs this summer. I like the whole idea of giving and doing something for a cause. I like how the Run For Japan event only costs P350 or close to 9 US Dollars. Because it's not expensive and with the recent media blasting about the unfortunate disaster that struck Japan, this is bound to be participated by many.
Now I just need me some running shoes. There are a LOT of fun runs this summer!

Something about change of plans and leaving it all to time.
I did a previous blog post but I didn't allow comments - I just want to let some things out. Writing about feelings can really help, even if there's no one listening or reading. Writing is a medium of expression. Even if we, bloggers, love attention and the audience, there are just some things you're better off writing about - decreasing the chance of an emotional outburst, breakdown or melodramatic situations in the future. Your thoughts become better constructed.

In the long time I haven't posted, a lot of things happened, among those a
n internship at Standard Chartered Bank. I got an allowance out of it, and it's pretty big compared to my other classmates who interned at different companies, they practically got nowhere near my allowance or didn't get any at all.
I feel like I was treated right in the HR department where I was assigned. They let me interview aspiring interns and let me in on their meetings. I was not ever asked to make coffee or photocopy hundreds of papers. It was like I was one of them.
During the internship, my love with HR blossomed. Every time I wake up, I put on my corporate attire, travel to the biggest and most popular business district in the country, walk in its pavements, and finally enter the office building - and it feels right, like it's where I should be.
I am actually excited to be working in an industrial setting. I want to know more or maybe master the whole HR thing. And then there's the dream of pursuing medical school. I want the glory, to help people, the work, and even the stress. I don't know. Maybe I've leave it all to time, see where it goes!

I don't know what's up with me. All I want is something to do, something to get busy with just so I can forget. Something new. I used to be good at ignoring and suppressing things but I don't know what's happening. One thing is for sure, though. I want to get out of this phase now but it will be the longest 6 months of my life. I'm not even sure if I can handle waiting for that long. And no, I'm not saying I have suicidal thoughts - I know I'm better than that. It just sounds unbearable, thinking that so much could happen in just a month.
I really like this one boy. We went out for more than a year then he just broke it off, saying he wanted to focus more on school, add to that other things like family, and yes, it's the truth. He says he still likes me and I still really like him too, after more than 6 months that he decided to call it off.
We're still spending time together and having fun even after we broke up. He says he's happy and comfortable when he's with me. One would think we're back together or we're getting back together. But no, it's even more complicated than it is. He wants to get back but he can't because of circumstances. Whichever way I think of it, it's a losing battle for me. He wants to be friends and possibly would like to develop something more in the future, if given the chance, and never wants me out of his life and I sort of want the same thing but it's just painful and unbearable to not to be able to hold his hand, or kiss him, or take care of him. Sure, if I really like him, then I should wait.
I think we should spend time together and make the most out of it. Actually be in a relationship before everything starts to move really fast. Graduation will be in 6 months. When I graduate, I might go in this internship at the States. He will go back to the States for vacation but it is a long shot we will meet, assuming that I get assigned to somewhere far away from Virginia. From there, a lot of things could happen. We would be meeting a lot of people. Then after my internship, I will come back to the Philippines. He might not come back and might pursue medical school in there.
But I don't know what will happen in the future. Maybe all I can really do right now is to wait and be patient - which sucks but there's no other choice. And hell yeah, I am stubborn.

Sort of a quick post.
I haven't posted anything for a while cos I've been REAL busy. Not exactly busy on school stuff but other things. It's a good Sunday morning, and I'll spend it on reviewing for exams blahblah, anything to lessen my backlog.
Being in College is pretty crazy! You got school, social life, and personal thingies to deal with.. and I LOVE it! There's little room for relaxing and sleeping but all the fun and experience is worth it.
Good Life, I am coming!
A few days ago, I started watching Friends. I know, the TV Show started in 1994 and it's already 2010 but I'm not gonna let my ignorance be extended to 2011 - I'm gonna finish the show's 10 seasons before this year ends. ***
I'm on the 5th episode so far and I'm liking it. I have always liked Lisa Kudrow and her dumb but funny roles and Jennifer Aniston's sweet, endearing image. She's always gonna be America's Sweetheart. How I Met Your Mother and other shows followed after this show's footsteps. That one apartment setting, one bar they frequent, big city setting, and the stories that make each character be loved by the audience.
Thank you Cable Internet, I can download anything!

Went out with a couple of friends I haven't seen for a long time. We ate at Lamesa Grill, somewhere in San Miguel by The Bay. Food was pretty good, nothing special. It was totally affordable and the ambiance is really nice. There's a live band performing just outside the Grill.

Scaring others is pretty fun.
I had a long and fun weekend. Nothing else to do but watch TV Shows and movies, download music, hang around Facebook and all that pop culture stuff. I also enjoyed scaring my niece and nephews, it has been a lot of fun. What haunts me the most is that before these kids go to bed, they would be having nightmares and it would be some of my fault.. I have to credit the adults - that's how it goes down in our family tree - for they also shared their part, with astounding effort, thus earning recognition.
The Other Guys was just weird, it tried hard to be funny. A lot of parts were straight hilarious, stupid, and awkward. Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell didn't have the chemistry unlike The Rock and the most revered Samuel L. Jackson on the first almost-ten minutes of the movie. Go figure.
I watched Inception like everybody else when it was released. Now, a few months later, I'm gonna watch it again, it was recently released on DVD. The concept of a dream within a dream is just addictive and original, I have to see it again and we all know we have to have it.
Scott Pilgrim, haven't seen it yet. It stars that actor playing not at all stupid and awkward roles but I want to see it. I forgot his name.
Much Love,

Always wanting more.
I swear I don't know where time has gone by. The past few weeks, after the end of each week, I'm like "What the *bleep!* just happened?" after every 'realization', I look at my wallet and see some bills and coins and new clothes. I've been getting too much money and I've been quick to spend it. I feel like I'm rushing through every day without realizing I was.
It has been fun but I don't feel contented. I'm like this now, I always want more than what I already have. Of course I'm not gonna feel 'contented' at this point in my life unless I get the things I want.

A few days ago, my friend and I had to hit the mall due to boredom and cravings for something salty AND sweet. That's right, we could be weird sometimes. First off, we went to satisfy our cravings for salty food by eating Italian dishes at a fast food chain. Next up, for something sweet so we stopped by Cerealicious.
Cerealicious, though been around for a few years, is still starting to open up branches around Metro Manila. Each item from the menu are inspired by movies: Pirates of the Cadburryean, Oreo and Juliet, The Skittle Mermaid, and more! You can even make your own cereal: add cereals, chocolates, nuts, and more.
It's the new thing so look for a Cerealicious near you! Prices range from P50-P150.
They should be paying me for this.

Without A Trace and The Hunger Games.
It has only been almost two months but the feeling of being single is so good, I totally forgot how it feels like. Though I am saddened of closing another chapter, somehow it feels right. It's time to focus on things I neglected like my friends, meeting new people, studying, and other stuff. I deleted him on my Facebook, I rarely talk to him even though we're on the same classes and Student Council Officers, my phone, online messenger, his pictures -- no trace of him and that helped me move on and grow. It's not that he did something so unforgivably wrong; it was my choice to want to forget about him.

Actually, I think this is a marketing strategy and a pretty good one at that. The first book (softbound) was so affordable, at par with three Big Macs from Mcdonald's (or maybe less) while the other two, both hardbound and not having softbound and paperback copies costs $18 a piece. Having no choice, a lot of readers bought the two books even if they are expensive. No, I wasn't one of them. Even if the first book was SO GOOD, I had to restrain myself. Good thing there's softbound versions of the series on Powerbooks but with different covers.
Nonetheless, go out and buy the first book! Know the Battle Royale movie? If you liked it, you're going to like the Hunger Games series.
But I'm not denying the fact that there's always gonna be space for him somewhere. I'll let Future HalfCrazy deal with that.
For now I'm just gonna put it aside and continue to get to the place where I want to be. I'm excited. I'm getting there. I hope to get there.

A few months ago, I bought Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and I'm glad I did. This book is so compelling and addictive that when it came to my knowing that it spawned two more sequels, I was excited to purchase but had to fall back cos the two books are way out of my normal price range for buying books.

Jinx and Drinks.
In a few months, if things go really well, I can fly to the US for an on-the-job-training and stay there for a year, and maybe meet up with friends and family living there. The thought of leaving my life in here for a year scares me but then flying out of here excites me too. Also, when I get back, I'm excited to know and see the changes that took place when I was out - not to mention changes that happened to me.
When I get back, I wanna go to med school and pursue that plan of contributing something awesome to the world.
I know I shouldn't get ahead of myself. Most of the time, things don't really turn out the way you planned them to be, but something else. Just talking about these things, I feel like I'm jinxing my plans. Here's a quote that I really liked:
"You can't design your life like a building, it doesn't work that way. You just have to live it and it will design itself. It's not that you shouldn't do anything - listen to what the world is telling you and take the leap."
- How I Met Your Mother
It's good to have plans to guide you but I'm just saying there are a lot of decisions and circumstances in life that would not make your plans happen or not. I might contribute to the world but not become a Doctor but someone and something else. I might end up living in the US or I'm just gonna be stuck here.
What they are, I'll know, just not now.

For Pinoys looking for a good bar..
Nowadays, I frequent this one bar: Central. Which branch, preferably Makati. But I have also been to Central BF Homes Paranaque, Central Angelo King, Central Adriatico, and I want to visit the others!
What's great about Central is everything is certainly of the highest quality, may it be food or drinks. Don't forget to try their "Bad" drinks: Bad Trip, Bad Boy and Bad Girl (Ranging from P180-P190). Also their Squeeze Me and. Also their nachos and Cheesy Potato (Around P150). And uhm, 2+1 Thursdays (Order 2, get 1 free!) and.. that's it. You can also order take out, just add P20!
Squeeze Me.

Open Letters: Money, Future Self and Boyfriend.
It's a beautiful and rainy Tuesday morning and I'm alone at home. Even for just a day, the TV set can rest, no more racket from my brother upstairs and it's total peace and quiet - this is what I want. I have one class today but I didn't go. I decided to stay at home, order a breakfast from McDonald's with a hot chocolate and started writing these open letters..
***
Dear Money,
These past few days, you're all I ever think about. I'd get thousands or even millions of you in the future. I know money can't buy me happiness but it would sure get me things I want for myself and for other people. People say that once I get loads of you in the future, I wouldn't be THAT happy but I'll let Future HalfCrazy deal with that.
See thousands of you soon.
***
Dear Future HalfCrazy,
Remember the ideal mindset. Work for money, work for the future, work for family, work for your self, get things you want, help people, make a difference, gain wisdom and knowledge, always do what is right, make millions of friends around the world.. I could go on and on.
Just make sure I'm a good person with a lot of money and friends. Don't worry, I have long been laying a strong foundation for that.
I'll leave ten years from now to you. Keep being awesome.
***
Dear next Boyfriend,
I want a relationship that's not too serious and definitely no playing around. Number one rule is no cheating - there's nothing I hate more than that. I want our relationship to be honest so no lies. I am not clingy like other girls so I know you're going to enjoy being with me. Always make sure you tell me your whereabouts but I get to check on you every three hours when you're at a party, is that okay? You can do the same thing to me. You totally should.
I hope you're sweet, gentle, spontaneous, funny, thoughtful, and smart. It's a plus if you're doing really well in school, have plans for the future, likes funny and sometimes stupid shows like The Office, likes hiphop and soul, is into books, good wardrobe, good-looking and.. you can add some of your quirks.
Do not tell me you love me just after a few months. Keep it in, say it after a year.
It's guaranteed that I won't waste your time. Keep safe on that road towards me. Many would want to lead you astray but don't let them. Let me deal with those bimbos later.

If you can write a short open letter to someone or a something, to whom or what would you address it to?
Much Love,

Something about hopes of huge success and Quesadillas.
At my age and in my current situation in life, I equate money with happiness, on a very significant relationship. I am 19, for others I may be young but I feel old. I feel like I haven't done much cos I don't have enough money to do things I like. And I want to do a lot of things, especially traveling and doing something new. I eat 3-5 times a day, finishing College, getting and doing things I want but I feel like it's not enough.
I know I should be contented with what I have but I am not. I can be pretty ambitious. I can't just stay put in one place and do the same things over and over again but it is exactly what I'm doing right now. Probably cos I'm tied down with school stuff and having not enough money to support the life I want. Maybe it's only a matter time before things really change, I know I shouldn't be rushing to get there.
I want constant excitement. A change of scene.

Friday Town Shootout: Water, Glass, Shiny Objects and Reflections.
I'm excited to do this post cos it's my first time in a long time to do the Friday Town Shootout! This week's topic is what it says on my title; water, glass, shiny objects, and reflections.
Disclaimer: Do not expect much from me, I am not a season photographer/traveler like the others on this page. To see more of this week and to participate in the upcoming FSOs, click here. Imma be representing Metro Manila, Philippines.
I was at Harbor Square with a couple of friends on a Thursday night. There are a lot of bars in this place and is a favorite hangout during the weekends.
Bar in a yacht. Wonder how much the drinks/entrance fee costs there. No, we didn't try and we didn't ask. Well, maybe some other time!
